Who We Are

Curators of authentic
wilderness experiences

Untamed Places is a proudly independent, 100% Botswana citizen-owned safari company founded and operated by Ronnie and Kefhilwe Mokotedi. Not all safaris are created equal. What makes the difference is rarely the landscape — it’s the people behind it. At Untamed Places, every camp is genuinely owned, passionately operated, and deeply rooted in the wilderness it calls home.

We like to see the world differently. We believe there is always something new to see, to explore, to experience — even for the most well-travelled. We are constantly striving to seek out the extraordinary in every destination we offer, and no stone is left unturned.

Untamed Places manages all sales, marketing and reservations for every property under our collection. This structure ensures direct engagement, focused positioning and strengthened partnership with the travel trade — providing you with a single, dedicated point of contact for all bookings within the Untamed Places collection.

We keep our camps intimate — never more than 16 guests — so every experience feels personal, unhurried, and deeply connected to the wild.

Why Untamed Places

100% Citizen-Owned — What Sets Us Apart

02
Proudly Botswana
Untamed Places is 100% Botswana citizen-owned. The value created by your safari stays where it belongs — with the communities and families who are the true custodians of this land. We are not visitors to Botswana’s wilderness. We are part of it.

Our Commitment

Protecting the wilderness we share

Every moment our guests take home depends on this wilderness staying intact. We exist because Botswana's wilderness exists. Protecting it isn't optional; it's the entire point.

Low-Impact Operations
Small camps, low guest density, and responsible wildlife management protocols on the concessions where we operate.
Community Employment
The majority of our staff are hired from communities adjacent to our camps, with ongoing training and career development pathways.
Citizen-Owned Revenue
As a 100% Botswana citizen-owned business, tourism revenue stays in Botswana — reinvested in operations, communities, and conservation levies.
Guest Voices

What our guests say

★★★★★

"Even for experienced safari tourists, this is a fantastic lodge. We watched up to 8 different species of mammals at the same time and were lucky to see a wild dog pack at minute one of our arrival. Tents are very comfortable, food very good. A really wonderful experience."

Moira S.
Camp Khwai · TripAdvisor
★★★★★

"Initially I was reticent taking my children on safari but Camp Khwai exceeded every expectation. Our guide found a leopard in a tree, a lion feasting on a buffalo, baby hyenas at a den. There are holidays, and then there are experiences that stay with you forever."

Family guest
Camp Khwai · TripAdvisor
★★★★★

"Camp Khwai is nothing short of extraordinary — wild beauty, warm hospitality and luxury in perfect harmony. The staff remembered our names, our preferences, and added personalised touches. If you are looking for a once-in-a-lifetime experience, this is it."

Camp Khwai · TripAdvisor
★★★★★

"Do not let the ride into camp fool you — it is a hidden gem. Upon arrival Violet greeted us with drinks, wet towels and a welcome song. The camp faces the river and at any moment animals are travelling through. The perfect end to our safari week in Africa."

Florence M.
Camp Khwai · TripAdvisor
★★★★★

"The highlight was the people — staff, guides and management who truly make your stay unique. The landscape is fantastic, facilities very well equipped, and access to Moremi means incredible wildlife at every turn. Very much recommended!"
